Pittsburgh Concrete Driveway is a local concrete and asphalt contractor working across Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. We have been in service for 15 years, and in that time the work has stayed deliberately narrow: driveways, flatwork, and the excavation and drainage that sit underneath them. We are not a general remodelling company that also pours concrete. Concrete is the trade, and everything we do supports it.

That focus matters more in this region than it would somewhere flat and dry. Most of what goes wrong with concrete in Pittsburgh has nothing to do with the concrete itself — it is what was, or was not, done before the pour.

Why Pittsburgh Is Hard on Concrete

Three conditions do most of the damage here, and they compound each other.

Freeze-thaw cycling is the first. Water gets into the surface, freezes, expands, and lifts the top layer away in flakes. That is spalling, and it is why mix strength, air entrainment, and sealing matter far more here than in a mild climate.

Road salt is the second. De-icing salt keeps moisture in contact with the slab and accelerates surface breakdown, particularly on aprons and the first few feet of a driveway where plough spray lands.

Terrain is the third, and it is the one most often underestimated. Pittsburgh lots slope. Clay-heavy soil holds water rather than shedding it, and a driveway cut into a hillside becomes a drainage decision as much as a concrete one. A slab poured over a base that stays saturated will move, whatever the mix was.

This is why our scope runs past the pour into excavation, grading, French drains and retaining walls. On a sloped lot those are not upsells. They are the reason the concrete lasts.

A lot of Pittsburgh projects get split across trades — an excavator, then a drainage contractor, then a concrete crew. When something settles or ponds two winters later, each one points at the other.

We handle the full chain with one crew: site assessment, excavation and base preparation, drainage, the pour, and the finish. That means one written scope, one schedule, one point of contact, and one party responsible if anything goes wrong. It also means we will tell you when the honest answer is the cheaper one — repair or resurfacing instead of full replacement when the base underneath is still sound.

How We Quote

Every project starts with a free on-site visit. We look at the actual site — slope, soil, drainage, access — rather than pricing from a square-footage rate over the phone.

You get a written fixed-price quote before anyone starts. All permits are handled. We are licensed and insured, and every job carries a 5-year workmanship warranty. There is no pressure to sign on the day we visit.

We work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
